[an error occurred while processing this directive]The Wicklow 200 and Wicklow Challenge will start promptly at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday 11th June 2006, with preparations for departure from 6:00 a.m. onwards, so if you don't live in or near Dublin you will need to find somewhere to stay the night before. You should book your accommodation as early as possible. Below are some suggestions to help you. The Wicklow 200 organisers have no special arrangements with any of these hotels, B&Bs, or other organisations, and make no particular recommendations about them. You should satisfy yourself about the suitability of any that you decide to use.
The start and finish point of the Wicklow 200 will be in the grounds of UCD, Belfield. Vehicle entrance will be from the Stillorgan Road (N11) just south of Donnybrook village, and almost opposite RTE where the Wicklow 200 started in recent years. A pedestrian and cycle entrance will be open from the Clonskeagh Road. Areas that are within 10 or 15 minutes cycling of the start in UCD include Stillorgan, Donnybrook, Ballsbridge, Ranelagh, Clonskeagh, Dundrum, Milltown, Goatstown and the south of the city centre.
Campus Accommodation
Some accommodation may still be available on the UCD Belfield campus. Their student residences are used for tourist accommodation during June, July, and August. A special rate of €40 per night is available for Wicklow 200 riders and support teams. To book, email ucd.village@kinlaygroup.ie, or telephone +353-1-269-7111. Mention the Wicklow 200 to get the reduced rate. Book as soon as you can, as the accommodation is likely to be taken quickly.
Bed & Breakfast
There are a number of B&Bs along the Stillorgan Road close to the start and finish in UCD, and many more within a mile or so. You can find most of them using the accommodation links below.
Hotels
Hotels within a mile of the start/finish include (in no particular order) Jury's Montrose Hotel (Stillorgan Road), Jury's Ballsbridge Hotel (Pembroke Road), the Berkley Court Hotel (Lansdowne Road) and the Burlington Hotel (Upper Leeson Street). There are many other hotels closer to the city centre but still within 15 minutes cycling distance of Donnybrook. Use the general accommodation links below to find them.
Finding Others
You can use Ireland.ie, run by Fáilte Ireland (the Irish tourism agency), to find officially approved hotels and B&Bs in Dublin city and surrounding areas. Comprehensive information on finding accommodation in Dublin city is available from the Dublin Tourism website. You can also try DublinTourist.com.
The start in Belfield is about 2 miles from the centre of Dublin city, so if you stay in the city centre and intend riding to the start you should allow up to 15 minutes travelling time. When looking at addresses of possible accommodation remember that Dublin postal codes are all even numbers on the south side (where the start/finish of the Wicklow 200 is), and lower numbers are closer to the city centre. Belfield is in Dublin 4.
If you have questions or suggestions about accommodation for other Wicklow 200 riders please feel free to use our Wicklow 200 discussion forum.
