What is the Wicklow 200 ?
The 2013
Wicklow 200
and
Wicklow 100
will be on Sunday June 9th.
While every year many cyclists who have never attempted a similar challenge before complete the Wicklow 200 successfully, it requires attention to training and preparation. Starting at 7:00 a.m. riders are allowed up to 14 hours to complete the route. The event is open to all cyclists, of any age. Previous participants have included riders from 12 to almost 80 years of age, and from beginners to internationally known ex-professionals.

The Wicklow 200 is a non-competitive cycle ride that takes place on one day every June. It covers 200 kilometres around the roads of beautiful County Wicklow (the Garden of Ireland) and attracts over 2000 cyclists from many different countries.
The shorter Wicklow Challenge takes place on the same day, and shares most of its route with the Wicklow 200.

The Wicklow 200 is famous for its relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and for its ability to combine this with organisation of the highest standard..

The event has been organised each year since it started in 1981 by the Irish Veteran Cyclists Association

Taking part in the "Wicklow 200" or the shorter "Wicklow 100" is taking part in one of the best cycling challenges in Ireland. This very popular event which is on it's 32nd year, incorporates some of the most difficult mountains in Co. Wicklow to cycle up and at the same time covers some of the most breathtaking scenic roads in the whole of Ireland.

Over 2,000 cyclists from all walks of life took part in 2012 and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Most of those said that they would be back again with their friends in 2013. With back up support from the Garda, the Civil Defence, the Cycle Trade, Wicklow Chamber of Commerce, Wicklow Tourism and the Irish Veteran Cyclist's Association members who take part as cycle marshals you are assured of a great day out and a lifetime experience.

Starting and finishing at the Shoreline Leisure Centre in Greystones, all their excellent facilities at the centre are at your disposal. Along the way we have water, food and repair stops at Manor Kilbride, Baltinglass and Rathdrum. Also our roving repair vehicles who travel on the circuit are always delighted to assist in the event of a mechanical problem. At the end of the day you will be rewarded with a certificate for completing the event and a medal, along with food, tea and coffee. You will then be able to look around and chat with others who have experienced the event.
